Salutation from the Chairman

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you, on behalf of the Organizing Committee and the Board of HASIN, to the conference "Update in Nephrology", an annual scientific event that is being established this year by the Hellenic Association of Independent Nephrologists and has as its main objective the presentation of recent knowledge and treatments in Nephrology and the scientific and professional information of health professionals in the field. The conference is added to the other main event of HASIN, "Challenges and Perspectives in Nephrology", which focuses on the presentation of the latest developments in the field of international Nephrology, with emphasis on home therapies and policies on quality of services, patient safety, equal access to health services and on the rationalization, consolidation, transparency & sustainability of health services.

In this context, the Scientific Committee has prepared a high-quality Program, with the participation of distinguished colleagues from various specialties from Greece and abroad. The central theme of this year's conference is the latest developments that promise to change the status quo in chronic kidney disease, as well as the newest and upcoming treatments in IgA nephropathy. The sessions presenting developments in cardiovascular morbidity and hemodialysis have always occupied a central place in the conference's agenda. In addition, this year, there will be a session on hereditary kidney diseases, where recent developments and guidelines will be discussed.

This year, in addition to the established workshop on ultrasound-guided fistula needling, HASIN is also establishing a workshop on BLS with the use of external defibrillator, which is considered mandatory for all dialysis staff. I would like to express my warm thanks to the Board and the members of the Hellenic Society of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (EEKA), for their full support in organizing the workshop.

As every year, this year too there will be certification of the high quality of the conference by Greek and international scientific bodies, while there will also be a continuing medical education award from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACMEE) and the P.M.A.

As at every annual conference of HASIN. important is the opportunity given to our members from all over the country to meet in person, to discuss the future of private Nephrology and to organize the operation of HASIN in the best possible way. At the General Assembly you will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion on our professional perspectives and the joint actions of HASIN members. During this year's General Assembly, the elections for new Board of HASIN will take place exclusively in person.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the distinguished colleagues participating in the conference, either as delegates, or as members of the Organising and Scientific Committees, speakers, commentators or coordinators of the sessions, for their contribution to achieving the high level of the event. I would also like to express my gratitude to the representatives of the Scientific Institutions participating in the conference, to the sponsors for their kind support, as well as to the Eventure organizing office for our excellent cooperation.

In closing, I wish you a pleasant, memorable and productive time at this year's meeting.
